"Mysteries at the Archive"
Parkview Event Center (Masonic Temple)

Speaker, Beryl Gable

As an archivist, Beryl has great knowledge of what types of collections are housed at the Lakeshore Museum Center. Learn about the museum’s plans for expanding their reading room and much more about future museum plans.

She will share with us an archival collection that is both intriguing and fascinating, and that is still an unsolved mystery. The archival collection belonged to August Bail and contains two telegrams, an insurance policy, photographs, and receipts. Beryl will talk about the story of August Bail and his family, the mystery involving his family in the 1870s, and how this collection left Beryl with an everlasting impression.

Beryl’s Bio: She received two Bachelor’s degrees in history and literature and her Master’s degree in Museum Studies from Colorado State University. She was born and raised in Colorado and moved to Michigan for her current position. She enjoys hiking, reading, volunteering at an animal shelter, and gardening. She also belongs to a medieval reenactment group and is an active fencer.

Handouts: She will have a handout on the archival collections and resources at the Lakeshore Museum Center Archive.
